4 Effortless Ways to stay connected with your spouse This post is brought to you by Bertolli

The hustle, bustle and demands of life can become very overwhelming.  Commitments to work, family and all the other responsibilities often result in one or more important areas of your life being neglected.  One of the challenges that commonly surfaces is staying connected to your spouse.  Placing your relationship at the bottom of your priority list can rapidly cause cracks in the foundation of your marriage.  It could become quite difficult to repair a cracked foundation. To prevent this from happening, here are a few ways to stay connected with your spouse:

Use Technology

If you are constantly plugged in, your relationship can become strained by technology. However, technology can be used for good by making a phone call, sending an email, text or social media message. When all of your income comes form working online, it’s hard to disconnect, but there are simple ways to connect every single day.  You can let your spouse know that you love him or her and he or she is on your mind. Although we both work form home, Philip and I are constantly messaging and texting each other. Sometimes it’s just to share  an interesting article, other times it’s to send a special message. If you are super busy throughout the day, setting a reminder can help your remember to connect with your spouse.

Schedule Date Nights

For a healthy marriage, regularly spending alone time together is an absolute must. However, date night does not have to be complicated. Its primary purpose is to spend time reconnecting with each other. This could mean simply hiring a babysitter for a few hours or sending the kids off to stay with a relative, while you go to the movies with your spouse or have a movie night at home.  Alternatively, you could host a one-on-one games night, have dessert and simply spend time talking, laughing and focusing on each other.

Plan a Getaway

Getting away for a few days is a great way to stay connected with your spouse. If your budget doesn’t allow for a grand getaway, send the kids away to a relative’s house for a weekend and stay at home. Your relationship can be tremendously boosted from simply spending a couple of days loving each other and reconnecting.

Making time to eat together can be tricky, but it’s totally doable. Philip and I have crazy schedules, but we still try to take the time to dine together as often as we can. Sometimes we go out to lunch, but most times, we eat a meal together at home.Eating together gives us a chance to just chat and catch up on what’s going on in our lives. Meals do not have to be complicated or elaborate. In fact, we found a great meal solution that allows us to get food on the table quickly with little meal prep involved.  The solution we found?  Bertolli Multi-Serve Skillets which you can find in the freezer aisle of your local supermarket!

Bertolli frozen meals

I love, love, love Italian food.  In fact, I would eat it every day if I could, but I don’t always have the time. These Bertolli Frozen Meals don’t take a lot of time to prepare.  Despite this fact, these meals are authentic, delicious, Italian meals.

Philip and I set aside some time for lunch today. We enjoyed some Chicken ala Vodka & Farfalle while having a great conversation and sharing jokes. We connected. In fact, you can say that we had a “Mangia Moment.”
