The Runaway Dog

1121456_dog_black Although Philip’s mom is in her 70’s, she still works.  She does not drive, so Philip and his brothers take turns driving her to and from work.  One day, I wound up picking her up from work and Z.E.N. came along for the ride.

When we arrived at her house, she thanked me for the ride, stepped out of the car, and reached in to retrieve her bags.  As she reached over, a dog came out of nowhere and leapt through the open car door.  I was stunned!  The dog then climbed over the console and went to the back seat where Z.E.N was strapped in to his booster seat.  He let out a scream and I immediately went into panic mode because hey, a strange dog just pushed his way into my car.  I had no idea whose dog it was, whether the dog had rabies, whether the dog would attack Z.E.N., Etc.

I immediately jumped out of the car and yanked open the rear door trying to get the dog out of the car.  The dog just looked at me, went back over the console and exited the car through the same door he entered.  He then bounded up the block.

Moments later I saw a little girl and her mother running down the block.  They were running after the dog.  I pointed in the direction the dog went and off they went in search of the runaway dog.

Weird things always seem to happen to us!

Totally random that the dog jumped into your car. Thank goodness he was a friendly dog and didn’t harm anyone!

That’s too funny! My kids would have decided the dog belonged to them now- That’s awesome =)

I have a crazy pet story over at Denschool about a stray cat having kittens in an abandoned truck on our property w/o us knowing. I’m still stuck with those kittens :-/

Oh My Gosh! I’m glad the dog was a family dog and not dangerous. That must have been so scary.
