Last month, I mentioned that Rookie USA, this great new kids clothing store, would be opening soon. Well guess what, Rookie USA is finally here! Phil, Z.E.N. and I visited their first store, which is located at 808 Columbus Avenue in New York City, earlier this week and we were quite impressed with what we saw. I was even more impressed at what they had accomplished in such a short time.
I say this because I had a chance to tour the store on August 3rd, and it looked totally different then. It was pretty much a construction zone. There were no shelves, no fixtures and certainly no merchandise.
I did notice though that the space was pretty large. It’s actually 7,000 Square feet!
During the tour, I got some insight into their vision of how the store would be set up. They made mention of a sneaker chandelier. I have never seen a sneaker chandelier and had no idea what that would look like, but I finally got to see it up close this week and I must say it looks absolutely fabulous.
On the day that we visited, the store was still in the midst of being set up. The store was abuzz with energy and the staff was busy placing items on shelves in preparation for opening day. Nevertheless, we got a chance to preview their large selection of premium brand clothing for girls and boys.
The store has a huge selection of clothing for kids including jeans, sports jerseys, shoes, and baseball caps from Nike, Nike 6.0, Jordan, Converse, and Levi’s.
As we browsed around the store, Z.E.N. wasted no time letting us know which items he liked.
Since fall is quickly approaching, we settled on getting one of these Jordan Hoodies.
It will work great for those cold days when he has track practice. I then proceeded to cash out. Since the store had not yet officially opened, I think I may have been the first customer!
Here is Z.E.N trying on the hoodie we purchased:
He absolutely loves it and asked if he could wear it despite the 80 degree weather! lol! We will definitely be coming back to this store to do a little more shopping!
