Comment Policy

Commenting enhances and encourages conversation on this blog, however I want to establish a few ground rules by putting together this little blog comment policy:

I encourage comments that:

  • are on topic and relevant to the content in the article or blog post
  • are responses to comments left by other readers
  • are brief and to the point
  • have a positive and/or constructive tone
  • are open to being contradicted by other readers
  • might disagree with the content in the article, but never insult the writer of the article, or other commenters
  • are respectful

I discourage comments that:

  • are not on topic or relevant to the content in the article or blog post
  • are not responding to other comments left by others
  • insult the writer of the article or blog post, or other commenters
  • are excessively long or negative in tone

I will delete comments, without notice, that:

  • include profanity
  • are abusive, harassing, threatening, or vulgar
  • are personal attacks: including name-calling or celebrations of another person’s misfortune
  • contain advertising or spam
  • are disruptive, including personal conversations better suited for private messaging
  • violates or encourages others to violate any laws or are illegal

My ultimate goal  is to foster interesting conversations and opinions with people who are respectful and tolerant of other people’s opinions.  I am hoping that this comments policy will facilitate this.
