Summer is sun, sea, sand and sweat. So where does makeup fit in? Makeup can easily melt in the summer heat, so even if the season still calls for some color, there are a few adjustments that have to be made. Here are tips to achieve the best summer make up looks that will win points at the beach, the bar and practically everywhere else without spending a million bucks.
Go lightly into the sunshine
Summer means lots of light, so try to go for whispery-light color on the cheeks, eyes and lips. Keep the sunkissed look with a light dab of blush. A blush puts a lovely color on the cheeks and gives you a healthy glow.
What to use: Apply a blendable blush in sheer colors. Covergirl Classic Color Blush in Soft Mink is a good choice. It lasts long and the color looks great on every type of skin tone.
Get pink
Pink is a great color for summer and the latest summer makeup trends are leaning towards lively, electric hues.
What to use: Pink shades such as Blush in Pale Pink (Bobbi Brown) are excellent for layering. Sweep on, blot and finish with a light gloss. Or try a non-stick lip stain – it stays on and does not feel greasy on the mouth. For more sun protection, try a tinted lip balm with SPF such as Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm.
Get smoky eyes… for summer
Some women may think that smoky eyes belong in autumn or winter or at least at night but it can work remarkably well even at daytime. Just make sure to use bronze instead of silver, black or gray. Bronze has a softening effect on the features and it can easily shift from daywear to eveningwear with just the addition of more mascara and a little touchup.
What to use: A liquid liner or brown pencil to line the eyes; soften using a bronze liner, preferably one that is cream-based. Use earthy brown tones to sweep over the eyes. A good bet is Milani Infinite Liquid Eyeliner in Browns. The colors are beautiful and texture is dreamy – just perfect for summer.
I hope you enjoy these easy summer makeup looks!
