As a kid, one of my absolute favorite beverages was chocolate milk. My mom used to purchase the little rectangular containers of Nestlé’s Quik (that’s what it used to be called back then) in the chocolate flavor and I would be in heaven. I loved it both hot and cold and drank it every morning for breakfast and every night before I went to bed. I remember back then that the containers were made of metal and I could never open them by myself, until my mom showed me the trick of using the tip of a spoon to pry open the containers. Ahh the memories.
Growing up, I was also surrounded by tennis fans. My aunt Marie actually got me interested in the game. Whether we were visiting her or she was visiting us, the TV had to always be tuned to tennis. She explained the game to me when I was pretty young and I’ve been watching ever since.
So, it’s no surprise that when I was presented with the opportunity to meet both the Nesquik Bunny and The Bryan Brothers at the same time, I didn’t hesitate to say yes.
In the past, I had watched the Bryan Brothers every now and then, but it wasn’t until I saw their 60 minutes interview two years ago, that I really became fascinated with them. During that interview, I learned a lot about how they started playing tennis, how strict their father was, and how they stuck to a grueling training regimen which got them to where they are today, Olympic gold medalists!
In case you didn’t know, Nesquik recently partnered with the Bryan Brothers. What’s the connection between them you ask? Well, The Bryan Brothers grew up drinking Nesquik and still continue to drink it occasionally as an athletic recovery drink after their workouts since it has just the right mix of proteins and carbs.
As part of the Nesquik/Bryan Brothers partnership, Bob and Mike Bryan participated in a few events in NYC. Last Thursday was one of those events. They made an appearance at the Duane Reade store located on 51st Street and 6th Avenue where they did a meet and greet with some of their fans and signed autographs.
I, along with a few of my fellow Duane Reade VIP bloggers were on hand to cover the event and interview the Bryan Brothers. It was very exciting to say the least! Plus, there was plenty of Nestle Nesquik on hand for sampling and for purchase. Yum!
We had fun posing for pictures with the Nesquik bunny, and the Bryan Brothers.
The Bryan Brothers made our day when they whipped out their gold medal. I can’t believe I got to see and touch their Olympic gold medal. It was quite heavy!
Later on that day, they participated in a charity table-tennis tournament against New York City firefighters in an effort to raise funds for the FDNY Foundation.
It’s no surprise that the Bryan brothers won the tournament! At the end of the tournament, Nesquik donated $25,000 to the FDNY Foundation which supports fire prevention and health and wellness programs.

You so had me at “lots of Nesquik to sample”. That’s the only brand we used when I was growing up.
