Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Do you already have date plans? Don’t let money make you feel like you can’t give your loved one a memorable experience. I’ve come up with some cheap date ideas for Valentine’s Day that will lead to smiles, laughter, and lots of love. You don’t need to spend a ton to show your love for someone.
Have dinner and a movie.. at home.
Trust me, you don’t need to go out to a place where your triple digit bill + tip equals how much you love your partner. Stay home and surprise them with making their favorite meal or something they don’t get to have that often. Better yet, make the meal together! Set the mood with candles, maybe some flowers. Pop open a bottle of wine. After the meal, snuggle under a blanket together while watching something you both have been wanting to see on Netflix. Have someone watch the kids so you two can really call it a holiday. This is one of those things, where it’s romantic and a classic and neither go out of style.
Enjoy the snow like a couple of big kids.
We recently had a big snowstorm in our neck of the woods. Did you get snow too? If so, grab your boots, hat, and mittens, and go have fun! Forget adulting for a while. Go sledding. Have a playful snowball fight. Use spray bottles of water mixed with food color to spell out “I love you!” in the snow. After you snow bunnies have finished playing, head inside and slip into some warm jammies. Make some adult hot cocoa, and snuggle up to keep each other warm.
Go for a romantic drive.
Do you and your significant other have a special place you love? Go for a nice drive, just the two of you. Enjoy the scenery and everything else about the world around you. Make a playlist of songs that mean a lot to the two of you, or love songs that spell out how you feel. Stop somewhere and enjoy a nice packed lunch of delicious finger foods and sweets while basking in each other’s presence. See, you don’t need to spend a ton of money to show your romantic side.
Long-distance love is no problem – have an online dinner date.
If your loved one is miles away this Valentine’s Day, you don’t need to miss out on a date! Thanks to the internet, there’s a bunch of ways for the two of you to have a romantic connection. Plan a time that works for both of you. Prior to the big day, figure out something for dinner. Each of you will have to make it yourselves, but once you get on webcam with your loved one, you’ll both be eating together, even if you’re thousands of miles apart. Mail each other cards or small gifts and don’t open them until you’re on cam together. Seeing your date’s smile and face light up, will be the highlight of the whole night.
